While enjoying the local delicacies, attendees can also enjoy a stroll around the Sonoma Plaza and an up-close look at more than 30 vintage race cars from the Jaguar Wine Country Classic Vintage Car Races, which will be held at Infineon Raceway, June 3-4.
The evening will feature a sampling from a variety of local restaurants, including Red Grape, Swiss Hotel, Rin's Thai Restaurant, The Cheesemaker's Daughter, La Casa, Basque Boulangerie, Maya Restaurant, Sonoma-Meritage, Sonoma Valley Rotary and more.
More than 10 local wineries, including Arrowood Vineyards and Winery, Buena Vista, Ravenswood Winery, Gloria Ferrer, Westwood Winery, Homewood Winery, Larson Family Winery, Moon Mountain Vineyards, and VJB Vineyards and Cellars will complement the food with tastings.
The event will begin with a parade of 30 vintage race cars departing under a full CHP escort from Infineon Raceway at approximately 5 p.m. The parade of cars will motor along Highways 121 and 12, before reaching the scenic Sonoma Square and taking a ceremonial lap around the square. They will then be parked around the horseshoe and on display for the public. You can even vote for your favorite car in two different contests. All proceeds from the event benefit Speedway Children's Charities, the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway.
"This event is great from the standpoint that it is right in the heart of town and all these cars are visible to the public," said Tim Boeve, executive director of the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, which has helped facilitate many Speedway Children's Charities grants over the years. "It is a wonderful event that supports a wonderful cause, ours being public education in the Sonoma Valley."
The Vintage Race Car Festival will run from 5:30-8 p.m. and tickets are $30 in advance ($35 at the event). For tickets, please call Infineon Raceway at 800-870-RACE.
