Two new elements have been added to the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown at Infineon Raceway (May 19-21), further cementing it as the must-see two-wheel weekend of the 2006 motorcycle season in Northern California. The weekend is presented by Supercuts.
Supermoto USA will host a three-day supermoto event (May 19-21) at Turn 7, and more than 200 riders are expected. The circuit will be 80-percent paved and 20-percent dirt, with several hilly jumps.
The event will be part of Supermoto USA's 10-race West Coast schedule for 2006, and top rider Casey Yarrow, a Bay Area product, is expected to attend. He currently carries the No. 1 plate in the series.
In addition, Infineon Raceway will host the West Coast's first-ever Street Freestyle, sanctioned by Stuntspot.com. This event will also span all three days and feature more than 120 competitors, who will perform a variety of tricks on their street bikes, including Stopees and Crazy Larry's.
More than 5,000 people turned out for a similar event in Lakeland (Fla.) in February to watch riders perform unbelievable tricks on their 400- and 500-pound street bikes. Expect to see bikes like Harley-Davidson and Buell, among others, in the competition, which will feature a variety of disciplines.
The Street Freestyle will take place on the Turn 10 island and is a must-see for two-wheel enthusiasts.
